Winter walking is one of our favourite things to do in Norfolk around Christmas time, and that's what's behind today's 'audio advent door'.

S: Hi, I’m Steph
A: and I’m Andrew.
One of my favourite things to do in Norfolk around Christmas time is a lovely walk. I especially love the emptiness of our beaches at this time of year.
Our favourites include the Cromer Lighthouse Walk, which we usually do as a family on Christmas Eve and a walk on Holkham beach around New Years.
It’s lovely to get some fresh air and space, all wrapped up and ideally ending in Fish & Chips or Cake and Coffee.
S: Our Christmas Eve walk has become one of the highlights of our Christmas - a real family tradition. The weather is usually pretty questionable, but as long as you’re properly dressed, it’s lovely.
One festive walk tip though is to head out early. Even though it’s wintertime, some places get very busy and it can be really hard to park. Andy, do you remember the New Year’s Day one we took on the east coast a few years ago - we drove out after dinner, along with everyone else in Norfolk and couldn’t park at all. We also started so late that by the time we finished it was pitch black and actually felt a bit dangerous walking along a road to get back to our car. So start early, park easily, walk in daylight and head off before it gets completely dark.
